Standing up to a bully can help but can also feed the bully. Also, if you stand up to him and lose the child will feel even more hopeless and will get bullied even more and other kids will also view him a loser.

Just like there are aspects about Judaism which CM can't fully understand and there are aspects of Catholicism that you and I cannot understand, so to there are aspects of parenting which you cannot understand and there are aspects of growing up today that I cannot understand. There is a Netflix show that glorifies suicide. We are allowing our children to sit in front of iPads with unfettered access to thousands upon thousands of movies and shows. We allow them access to Facebook and Instagram, following people who can expose them to anything and everything. Meanwhile, we make fun of people who go to "internet asifas" as being backwards.

just saying that it is a factor in todays problem

aslo at certain ages it is hard to keep kids away from the technology in todays world.

+1. I'd be surprised if this kid and his classmates were all on social media at 11. And if they were, whatever part it may have contributed to this tragedy is definitely on all of the parents - no matter how hard one might think keeping them away from it is.

A parent raising a child today has a far greater understanding of what it means for a child to grow up today than a child growing up today has of a parent raising a child today.

Maybe i just dont get it. No one ever committed suicide from bullying when i was growing up. And there was plenty bullying going on. What is it today that makes the bullying worse than when I was growing up in a non-PC world. The names we were called and the pressures we were subjected to  was far greater than anything I see today. 

Yes it is the schools job to police the bullying and to educate that its wrong. But its not their job to raise the kid, sorry.

There is a limited understanding to everyone, if you are a parent of children 5-18 now, all you are missing a child's POV, but if you are not raising a child in everyone of those age groups, or you know from years back, you are missing a lot.

A. Children need to have thicker skin
B. Schools need to be more aware, and listen to complaints.
