Denied for One Pass and Explorer simultaneously. Only one allowed.

I did a double app for One Pass Plus and United Explorer cards.

Was initially denied (via mail) for both: One pass, because "you have the maximum credit", and Explorer because "too many applications".

Called Recon: They approved me for the One pass after moving credit over from a different Chase Card that I have, but for the Explorer, they said "you cannot apply for both the Explorer and One Pass cards within a 6 month timeframe because they are very similar"

And so, I could not get approved for the explorer card.

Yea you gotta keep calling. Same thing happened to me  and I just called back until there was a rep willing ti help me

Did you ask them to approve both cards in the same call with recon, or did you do it one per call?

Did they realise that you made two apps, or did you ask them on both?

I think it might be better if you just ask for one on each call, hence they won't say "hey, you can only get one".

Well, first I asked about the One Pass, she put me on hold, did her research, and offered to move credit from another card. After taking care of all that, I mentioned the other application. She then proceeded to do her "research", came back and said that she apologizes, but because the cards are "so similar", only one application is allowed every 6 months.

I will try calling again.
