Don't know. My assumption is that they are trying to appeal to a wider audience, and think that by slowly boiling the frog they won't lose their existing audience.

I don't know if others agree or disagree, but I thought that the recent Mishpacha Magazine article on the Eifoh Yosseleh saga was despicable, and it reinforced my conviction against buying that hashkaficaly depraved magazine again.

The entire backdrop of the article was painting everyone who had any involvement with the saga as being either mistaken or worse, and thankfully most have repented from their evil actions but one unfortunately died without having shown remorse. They even dug up something (that I never heard before) about the Satmar Rov being diametrically opposed to the whole mission, further indicating that this was just a few rouge nuts who did something indefensible. This seems to be primarily driven by the fact that the interview was with Schuchmacher himself, and they were seemingly seeking to please him by portraying his perspective in the article.

This is far from the hashkafic understanding that I have had previously. I may have been wrong, but I'd faster think the Mishpacha is just continuing down their ever-liberalizing path toward hashkafic doom.

Is this a more widespread opinion in the frum world than I am aware of?

I don't know who is following who. It's a business and all they care about is their bottom line. They will do whatever they can to increase it.

You're looking at anything of the sort (which is a pure business, as opposed to certain publications that were specifically started to publicize השקפה) for any השקפה or value?

Absolutely. But the fact that they are not overtly peddling hashkafah but they sneak it in is such an innocent looking way makes it so much more dangerous. If they have a big title, "The proper hashkafic approach to the Eifoh Yosseleh Saga," everyone could know to read it with an internal barrier. But in an innocent looking article, you are much more susceptible to internalizing the nuances of the narrative they are conveying.

Would you also go to a movie theater and complain about what they show?

If you really care start off by asking your LOR if you should buy it at all.

I personally have stopped buying the Mishpacha after getting it every week for years. I just picked up a copy last week because it was Yom Tov, but I will hesitate from doing it again next time.

Aside from the issue of the magazine, which I responded to in the last post, am I incorrect about the actual episode. It took place long before I was born, but I assume that you were alive at the time, and would be much more suited to share the frum viewpoint on the story. What impression do you have?

Sorry to disappoint you. I am not that old.

The only DDFer I know for certain was already born at the time is @CountValentine, but I doubt he knew much about it as an American teenager.

i believe that Mishpacha has always been to the liberal side of Orthodoxy. The owner Pallay, is forever trying to push Chareidim to the work place, and whether you believe that that way is good or not, it against the mainstream Chareidi way that the Gedolim here prescribe. Mishpacha was actually put into Cherem in Israel and and only after that they decieded to spew their garbage in the US. Now that they took hold in America, their true colors are showing.

I remember a whole war going on between the Israeli Yated (not affiliated at all with the American one) and the Israeli Mishpacha (same company as the American one) going back more than 10 years. There were weekly patchkevilin put up against each other, so it was really hard to know which were real. I took some pictures then, and I'll share them here.

It seems like there was one put up against Mishpacha (first picture), and the rest were put up attacking the Yated and Aryeh Elyashiv (claiming that he forged the letter from his grandfather).
