Continuing from the gun thread. Some thoughts of mine that perculate but aren't fully formed.

When people say the actions/thoughts are people's choice but the outcome is God's.
One thing that right away comes to mind is that the outcome is not just a single thing in a story line. Such as whether the potential victim deserves it or not and therefore what happens to that. It's a constant unimaginable amount of changes in other people's bechira due to the butterfly effect.

There are millions of changes to history happening. Each change potentially changing someones ability to do a mitzvah. I can try to come up with some examples but I'm sure you can imagine. Just pause the world and go frame by frame.

How do you explain someone's inability to do something that God wants them to do if not for some other person getting in the way?

This doesn't change people's bechira it just changes the situations. In other words the person was never supposed to be able to do the mitzvah. Similar to plenty of situations where people don't have the opportunity to do a mitzvah. I.e. an orphan not being able to do kibbud av veim.

The difference is that it can be seen as all caused by a person's free will to do something in a particular way. If they wanted to do it a different way then you would think history would play out differently.

So when people come on to gilgulim to explain why bad things happen to good people. This question is still up in the air (I think at least). Why can't good people do good things?

Am I missing the boat on something here?

While ostensibly Zionism is no longer a threat with uprooting yiddishkeit, with that damage they're hopefully done, we must not forget what they did to millions of Jewish Neshamos, how many we completely lost thanks to that movement. We wouldn't forgive those who murdered millions of our people, so why are we rushing to stand in solidarity with Israel as if the state is our homeland? Why are we parading the IDF as if they are OUR soldiers? They're the embodiment of the very people and idea who did us the most harm and should be treated as such. You feel you can help your secular neighbor become more observant by inviting him to your seudah? By all means, invite him. That has nothing to do with losing sight of the bigger picture who was and still is our enemy and the enemy of Hashem. אוהבי ה׳ שנאו רעה

I wanted to point out how this young lady who was at the concert on Shabbos possibly dancing around the getchke also says how during the attack "Several times we heard the terrorists approaching, shouting in Arabic, searching for gun fodder. I recited ‘Shema Yisrael,’ sure that my life was over.”

Are caskets used to bury the dead?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Also if its a temporary burial with plans to reinter somewhere else at a later date.
The example that comes to mind is the temporary burial ground near the Knesset (where the zviller rebbeis) which was the temporary solution during the War of independence when there was no safe access to the two city cemeteries.
They where placed in caskets and just covered with mounds of earth. Most were later moved to the new cemetery in Har Hemenuchos (straight through the parking lot, then straight, then on the left), though some were buried in place.

Rav Meir Mazuz spoke about the Buddha party this week. Interestingly in the same breath he also spoke about the importance of not speaking ill of others and differentiated between the past and the present.

In the inner-talk by the gedolei hador, they understand cause and effect. There is no such thing as coincidence, and the world is not hefker. Lets speak about them, if everybody realizes that they died for their sins, it will be a tremendous zechus for those by that buddha party, as then klal yisroel would realize to do teshuva, and it will be in their merit. Plus, if all the buddha statues in the holy hand would be destroyed, then it would create the ruchnius power that the hostages would be able to get released.

Rav Sorotzkin spoke about this in shiur 518, and in his book End Illuminated chapter 22.

Unfortunately, the reason for the involvement was in order to avoid dragging the dirty laundry of a fine member of the community into the public view. Instead, the Rabbis of the two sides (RBS and RYBs) attempted to sort it out between themselves. Naturally, that means I can't talk about it.
