Amex Premium Baggage Protection on an award ticket
« on: July 29, 2011, 09:58:38 AM »
does anyone know definitively whether an award trip is a covered trip? as soon as the airline charges me the taxes and fees the 9.95 is charged. but when i called in today to make a claim, the rep told me the actual airfare must be purchased with the amex in order to b covered. i do recall that i was once reimbursed for delayed luggage on an award ticket. is there an official policy on this, or is it a ymmv situation?

Look up their policy, they clearly state, that if the ticket is purchased with miles or vouchers, the "remaining balance" of the ticket must be paid with this card, so if that was the case, you should be covered.

especially as they went ahead and billed you the premium, pretty clear that they cover it

i cant find that wording. do you have a link? also, remaining balance could be referring to airfare.
