Home automation: locks
« on: March 06, 2018, 10:58:53 AM »
Has anyone attempted to install an August smart lock on the back of a Simplex 7100 series shabbos lock.  I'm trying to get the best of both worlds, combo for shabbos but bluetooth for weekday!

You got to have the right tools to be able to drill the holes and that's it, it comes with a template to help you measure the holes you need to make and where to make the holes.
Curious to know what you got stuck with?

I had all correct tools.

I messed up installing the deadbolt facing the correct way

I wouldn't consider myself really handy (sorta handy maybe) and I installed one on my door. There was a little scare where I thought that I screwed up the whole door but it Worked out in the end- Still works even 7 years later.

+1. Still works 18 years later, but it needed to be moved because it was in a place where we could not install a storm door since it blocked the handle from closing. I have since moved from that house.
