That's 6 hours IIRC. But within 2 hours you can be in UT, AZ, or western CA. And he's willing to drive to GC which is like 4 hours from LV.

Las Vegas to LA is 4 hours without traffic. With traffic it will take you much longer. If you are making the drive, avoid driving LAX-LAS on Friday, and avoid LAS-LAX on Sunday. That's when you get all the weekender traffic.

Is there a reason you need to be in Vegas that long? I would say spend 3 days max in Vegas, and the rest in Los Angeles. The strip can be seen in a few hours' time. If you are into the pools, give yourself an afternoon there. The main attraction of Las Vegas is gambling, shows, clubs, and pool parties. If you are not into any of those things, there is not much to do there.

Las vegas is much cheaper as far as flights and hotels. Maybe I will drive to la for two days and one night...does that make sense? Or fly to la and drive to vegas

Likely have more flights to LAX than LAS as well...

Right now there is no availability flights wise to la or vegas that's worth me using points. strongly considering doing a jet blue getaways package.....cheaper in vegas than la.....
