Wow, the dude has been around since May 2017 and has never seen a confirmed trigger.

Like a guy's first day on the job answering, "well, in my experience at this company..."
Lol.
I was inquiring, not saying that there isn't any.
But I did research it a little, as I do use third party checks, and the reports I saw focused more on 3rd party attached bank accounts, and were wishy washy about the checks.
I'll tell you later

Well, Dan is my bible. And Mrs. Dan is my guiding light.

...so whatever they say is true. And he said it. So it's true.

Would third party payments be the same as third party checks?

In general, seems like FR rates are way down from the old days, while shutdowns are more common.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

So an electronic payment from a bank acct not in the card holder's name is a bigger risk than a third party check? Bummer considering that 2/4 of my most recent mailed payments were "lost" or at least never processed

A better question is what can they do?

in a FR they might ask you for proof that you are a signer on the account you're using to pay online
