Fantastic CX fare to MLE from ORD, completely in lie-flat business. Added kicker: great opportunity for stopover in HKG on the way there.

Perhaps they time well for connections out of HKG? Even their evening departure time out of MLE is later than useful (IIRC, the last sea planes generally leave the resorts by 4:30/5:00).

Doesn't work well for this connection. Must be another bank it can go with.

I'd much prefer their 11pm flight, than a 5 pm flight. 8-9 would probably be perfect.

Correct (EY 279 is well timed in this regard (and connects nicely in AUH to onward connections between 1:00 AM and 3:30 AM to the U.S. and Europe)).
