Buy a CZ and save the rest towards something better like a down payment on a house.

Engagement Rings $
« Reply #142 on: March 15, 2018, 02:42:00 PM »
I did not see a thread about this here so figured I would start a new one.

How much do people spend on average on engagement rings?
And everyone has a guy in the diamond district. Are these "guys" any cheaper than online?

I'd love to hear about this! I also have a ring I need to sell, wondering if I will loose lots off its value doing that...

wouldnt recommend buying online unless you don't know any trustworthy human dealers.

What you can afford (or often cant)- and what your future "wife, daughter in law or whatever she will be" likes in that price range. You also need to decide if quality or quantity is more important.
I guarantee people on here spent from $2k or less to $25k+

Also, with a trusted person in the district you can make sure you know what you are getting- I priced it out when I went and there were significant differences even in terms of the band/ setting (talking ~$1k difference as one person insisted it had to be custom, and the other person had someone to combine the pieces).

Yes you will. You can’t expect to get back more then 60% of what u paid. Unless you bought it over 20 years ago.

Perhaps you know someone in the industry that can hook him up? ;)

I think I spent around $2K on a diamond from a family friend in the district and $600 on a while gold setting from a relative.
Setting wound up losing nearly all of the pavé diamonds, so I replaced it with a Platinum pavé setting from Mink, paid for with SBS credits :)
