I would transfer directly to Iberia, was instant for me from Amex. If you transfer to BA, you may run into an "account not matching" error when you try to send it to Iberia, and will need to call CS.

Anyone know how I get the 25% discount - does it show automatically when you try to price it an itinerary on the site?  And what if Madrid is one leg of a longer itinerary (e.g., if going to tlv)?

If it's for those dates it is baked into the pricing. You wont see a discount to a regular fare.

Last q - any way to search availability if I didn’t transfer mileage yet; they seem to require that you have sufficient miles to put an itinerary in your cart and see price.  Thanks

It has nothing to do with Madrid connection or not. Its a sale on fares, period. And you do not need to have sufficient miles to see price. I dont know what you're looking at. "Book award ticket" should give you manyboptions even if you dont have sufficient miles. Shows the cost to use fewer miles too.
