Good stuff:

"If a debt is owed to another player, properties may be sold to a third player only if sufficient money is raised to cover the debt. If not, the properties are turned over as is (and not mortgaged if unmortgaged at the time the debt is incurred.)"

"No options or immunity from paying future rents may be granted, nor may partnerships be formed."

IMO, selling properties to an opponent for less than another opponent is willing to pay will indeed violate the official rules as that is a de facto partnership.

I guess in a tournament where they want a shorter game no immunity is the rule and the sale of property to a third player... however the moment you start regulating trade so much of the strategy is taken away and it depends much more on your dice roll (LUCK)

what I meant by bargain was for Harry who is owed for example $500 to say I'll buy so and so property off you for $500 and then your debt is covered

what I answered yes to was that yes technically a player can sell his property to another for a $1 however this doesn't happen (unless the game got personal) because a price war begins...

You can't start a process from a number against the rules. So the answer is no.

Wouldnt this make the game longer? This would be the equivalent to giving someone rent immunity in exchange for a property

Banana rules as you put it aren't fake rules. They're the common sense reading of the rules.

We have the official rules that come with the game. Everything else is house rules or as I call them BANANA!!!

Going to the highest bidder can also not be common sense when it is a fair trade. Why should I not be able to make a fair trade with someone I choose just because someone wants to pay more?

We play that you can't sell something to one opponent for less than another there will pay.

The rule is against partnerships/collusion, not fair trades.

I understand why you do it but it has unintended consequences. Gives tremendous power to the one who has more money. That's why I call it BANANA.

It's free parking. You park for free. There are no prizes for free parking other than it being free.
Of course to the bank, where else should fines and taxes go?

Mind-boggling how many people don't play Monopoly by the rulebook and then complain about how long the game is. Big pet peeve of mine.
