Isn't that what free parking means?

It's free parking. You park for free. There are no prizes for free parking other than it being free.
Of course to the bank, where else should fines and taxes go?

Mind-boggling how many people don't play Monopoly by the rulebook and then complain about how long the game is. Big pet peeve of mine.

I like the intensity of this.
But from my understanding, part of what speeds up the game is that you are constantly paying into the bank, but not taking out?

The less money in the game the quicker people go bankrupt. A finite money supply also means you need to be more strategic about buying, mortgaging (10% interest), and building (50% depreciation), etc.

We have many versions for that. I don't take that one so seriously, it's just 5-10 minutes of fun either way

It's not meant to be a serious competitive game. That's what Settlers, Risk, Ticket to Ride, and Monopoly are for.

Speaking of Risk though, we do use one house rule as the game is pointless without it...but that's for another thread.

I was not complaining about the length of the game, was just curious what you do with money from those cards. I see fines and taxes, but charity? Man if US Gov took my charity money too...

Fair point, I must be thinking of a different game. Edit: thinking of PayDay. Well, how about hospital and doctor bills? We living with socialized medicine? (Not that paying to the middle makes more sense than the bank.)
