Time for a "board game master thread"
The wiki will need links to "Monopoly master thread", "Clue master thread", this etc....

In a 3 person game of Risk, whoever gets Australia wins 99.9% of the time if they play with the right strategy. Park and build up armies while the other players kill each other.
Unless 2 people decide to contest ownership of Australia, in which case the 3rd person wins 99.9% of the time.

This is less pronounced in games of other sizes, but it's still problematic.

It ruined the game in our family until we started our own house rule: Connect Eastern Australia to Argentina.

I like that but I disagree on the 99.9%. The dice do funny things.

Yet to fail for me, but fair enough, call it 99% if that makes you happier.

Wait until you have kids.

Should I also spell out the trick to win Monopoly? Not as easy there as you need more luck or willing trading partners to get them...

I never played trading in Monopoly so I never had any plans for it. But that game has been plenty longer then risk since I played.

Don't understand how you can play Monopoly without trading.

I used to win all the time against someone with Australia. I used to always get North America.

If it's not possible then I'm just forgetting how you play. It must have been nearly a decade since I've played that. (Monopoly deal I've played more recently) yes a decade.

I used another one too, I think South America. It's all relative to the other players abilities.

Nope north America is the best it has just one more border and you get five men instead of 2 and when you feel powerful enough you jus head south and take over south America and you'll still have the same amount of boarders to protect and now you get 7 men for the continent's

I'm happy to test this out in a 3 player game anytime.
