Yes, thanks, I saw, but if I understood correctly, @hvaces42  had "unattached" old cat 1-5 and got points back.
My certs are attached to a property that is old cat 5 and then bumped up to new cat 5.
I don't think anyone has posted experience on switching an old cat 1-5 cert attached to a new cat 5 property  to another new cat 5 property. Unless maybe I missed it... paging @TimT ?

Anyone else get there status changed out of the blue today? I went from gold to platinum. I was at 42 nights yesterday and today im at 57

I was on the phone with a Marritt rep, and she combined all of the Marriott and Ritz Carlton accounts in my household under a bunch of different names. Which included qualifying nights, free night awards, anniversary nights, upgrade certificates, vouchers, Status ect.
Make sure to combine what you want to combine before you link your Spg account. Once you link your Spg you can't combine accounts, and there is no way to undo it.

I did not combine my accounts yet, but immediate family members have, can I still combine their accounts with mine?

They let me combine with different last names. They first had to change the name on the accounts before combining them

So i purchased a New Cat 6 7 Night Travel Package and tied the reservation to the Domes of Elouda before the merger. A few weeks later i called up and asked to convert it to a 5 night stay. They said they would have to investigate if they can refund me the points for the final 2 nights, but never got back to me. a few weeks after that i called up as i never got any points back and the reservation online was switched to 5 nights instead of 7.

 When i called up to see what was going on it seemed a lot more complicated than i thought. On record my certificate is still 7 nights, however the reservation is only for 5. When the manager i spoke to called the hotel to add the 2 nights they refused. They said that they are now a cat 8 and i cant add the two nights.

The agent i spoke to was so confused has a New Cat 6 cert was able to be booked for a New Cat 8 hotel, she was so confused.

Since i told her that I was still unsure if i want to go to Greece she said to keep everything the same and if i want to go for 7 nights than she will have to try and figure out what to do.

So Currently, I would love to get points in exchange for the 7 night cert does anyone have any experience with that?

Even though reservation is for 5 you still should get the full refund back if you cancel. Just keep in mind the refund value is much less than the cost of the reservation had you booked with points (45k + 30k for each category upgrade with the old chart).

Not sure if this is the right thread. I see a spg hotel ava on points if you book 3 nights in a row but not if you book a single night. Anyway to get around this and book the one night?

yes book 3 and call to cancel the nights that you don’t need

Or Just call to book that single night. Marriott's policy is m, as long as there is a base room available you should be able to book on points
(there are exceptions).
