Adios SPG business card. My AF was coming up anyway.
Not worth keeping for the 35K annual night?

What no one is taking about is what will happen to all the existing certificates that are based off of the old categories? Will we be able to book cat 1-5 hotels even though there will be more hotels and less categories? If that is the case the value of the certs would shoot up. Some people were saying you may need to use points to redeem the certs however the certs are actually paper certificates (which they sometimes mail you) outlining exactly what you can do with them. I doubt they would change the terms so drastically... Any thoughts?

Not sure how much stock to put into that, considering that several answers there are wrong.

TBD, but that includes 5 of the 7 categories that there will be in August.

Someone help me figure out where my math is wrong. If I want to try and take advantage of the Flight + Nights Marriott package and want the option of a category 9 property that would cost me 390kMR or 130kspg now. I would need 96k SPG to get 120k airlines miles at the 1.25 rate (though I know I would have to actually transfer 100k for 125k miles), which means that I would be paying 34k SPG for a 7 night certificate in a category 9 hotel. 34k spg translates to 102k Marriott, meaning I would be paying 102k Marriott for 7 nights in a category 9 hotel or 17k Marriott points per night w/ 6th night free. My math is off here, right? That seems way too low.

I am also curious how the certs will shake out come August. Will category 9 certs be good for category 7's? Will it move to category 6 since that is where 45k points will sit in 2019? In the August-Dec 2018 span, would I be shooting myself in the foot for having points locked in a cat 6 hotel reso when 7's could be booked for 60k/night?

So is it worth getting the SPG card now & use it for the next few months?

Trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on an SPG personal card. Last held the card in Sep 2013 and Amex chat rep didn't pull it up when I asked for a list of cards that I've previously held.
I would, you should be able to pull up 30k with incognito.

If you've never had it, definitely get it now, the SUB is rumored to change to a $200 statement credit within the next two weeks.

I just pulled it up yesterday, didn't work in my phone but worked on my laptop. Try googleing it, I think USA credit card guides had the link I used.
