https://samchui.com/2018/07/27/marriott-hotel-air-packages-no-longer-bookable-august-3/#.W1soydJKhaQ

The Certificates will no longer be bookable according to this. I wonder if thats the date they stop selling them.

Key part: “We encourage members with existing travel package certificates to book before August 4. After that date, those certificates will go dormant due to the new systems we have created to bring the loyalty programs together. Members should be rest assured though that we are working on a solution and will let them know as and when we have more information to share.”
Update: After reaching out to a Marriott spokesperson, I was told the below information isn’t correct, and there’s no August 4 deadline. Marriott recommends that members with a certificate attach it to a hotel stay before August 18. Obviously there’s a lot of confusion when it comes to this merger, and there are even conflicting official answers. I’ll leave this post up rather than deleting it so that people aren’t confused about why it disappeared, and know there’s no August 4 deadline.

Marriot flights & nights transfer pager seems to be down. Don't know what the exact implications of this are yet

Questions: me and 4 family members all have Starwood - can I still transfer them all now to my own account before they merge? and is it better to do now or after they merge?

also, what happens if i didn't link my SPG account to Marriot or if i don't have one?

Anyone know?

HMMM..I have an upcoming trip in November at a marriot resort in Phx. I got a crazy deal due to a time share presentation I agreed to go on.  I just got an invitation to a westin time share in phx which is a much nicer hotel. Do you think once the merger goes through they would let me swap hotels?

Correct :)
Till what date officially you can still transfer from one SPG account to another? I got confused from all the different dates they keep coming with.

I linked my SPG and Marriott accounts and transferred some points. It doesn't show in my Marriott account yet (30 min later). How long does it usually take?

Just received in an email from Amex: Note under New Benefit below

Here's what you can expect in August 2018

Updates to The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express and The Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Card from American Express will go into effect on August 1, as previously communicated. The one-time Starpoints to points conversion in SPG loyalty member accounts and the updates to Elite status, will occur along with the broader Marriott loyalty program updates, taking place on August 18.

On August 1, the following updates will be made to SPG® Amex Cards:

How You Earn Points with Your Card

When you use your Card, you can earn

6X points for each dollar of eligible purchases at participating SPG and Marriott Rewards® hotels1,2
2X points on all other eligible purchases1,2
4X points for each dollar of eligible purchases at U.S. restaurants, at U.S. gas stations, on U.S. wireless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. service providers, and on U.S. purchases for shipping.2 Please note this update only applies to The Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card from American Express.

New Benefits

Annual Free Night Award: Card Members whose Card account anniversary dates are on or after August 1 will be eligible to receive their annual Free Night Award (redemption level at or under 35,000 points) at a participating hotel.

On August 18, you can expect to see these updates in your loyalty member account:

In a one-time conversion, Starpoints will convert to points at a 1:3 ratio (one Starpoint will convert to three points). For example, 1,000 Starpoints will become 3,000 points. SPG will also make corresponding changes to the number of points required for redemptions.
SPG will introduce a new Silver Elite status that will be recognized at participating SPG and Marriott Rewards hotels. As a Card Member, you will be eligible to receive complimentary Silver Elite status.6 If you have a status level higher than Silver Elite status, your SPG Status will be converted to the respective new Marriott loyalty program status level.

As part of these updates, there may be delays posting points to your loyalty member account.

If you have any questions about your Card benefits, please call the number on the back of your Card. You can manage your account or chat with us anytime online at americanexpress.com.
