Is there any way to convert a 35k certificate to a 50k?

I chatted with them and they said no.

Has anyone tried and been successful?

Or is there maybe a market for this (sell a 35 and buy a 50)?

Another DP for those interested... after a few HUCA's I was able to refund an old Ritz Tier 1-3 cert attached to the Ritz Toronto.  I received 195k points in return.

@Dan  mentioned a while ago that marriot would refund some points for the tier 1-3 package and that this would extend it's life. anyone do that?

I have a old cat 6 which is now non existent.

Will they let me upgrade to a current cat 5?
If not, and they downgrade me to a new 1-5, and refund 30k points, will the new cert AUTOMATICALLY come with a new expiration date for another year?

it worked! they canceled old cert and reissued new one which was 30k less than original. so they didn't give 30k, just used 30k less. semantics but it took a while for the rep to figure that out.

I called Marriott a few months ago and they told me that if I don't use my 1-5 (which is now 1-4) 7 day cert then I would get I think it was 40 or 45k as long as I cancel before the the expiration date.  As my certificate is expiring soon, I called this week to cancel and they told me that my old certificate is not good anymore (not because it expired but because they made their category changes) and I either can extend for a year or I can get 10k back.  Does that make sense or should I be able to get the higher amount that I was originally told and what is the exact amount that I should be getting back?  If someone can let me know sooner than later it would be appreciated so I know what to do before the certificate expires. Thanks.

Hi, re: the platinum breakfast benefit: 500 points (value $3-5?) per stay vs. $10 food credit per day, seems like the latter is the better option - what do you think?

Re: Annual benefit choice when you hit 50 nights, what are the best options?

ok so i'm still confused with this all. I currently have a cert for "7 Night Travel Package Category 1-5 Hotels" (expiring soon)

What my best game plan? How many points can i request them to give back for it?
And for what reason?

Thanks so much

Is it an old cert or a new one?

I didn't convert it, so unless they would have converted automatically I assume its old. (any way to verify?)

I have the same issue.
My original 1-5 cat certificate is expiring in a few days.
I did not convert it.
Originally, they told me they would give me more points and now they said they have to convert it and when they do they can only give me 10k points if I don't use it.
Is that really true?
As time is of the essence anyone who has experience with this, your help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Convert it and should extend for another year.

If you want points back you can get 45k [I believe] .

They originally told me a few months ago I would get 45k but when I called now they said just 10k, that is my question, do I just keep HUCAing till I get the 45k, or is it really 10k?
Thanks.
