The category cert your have will determine how many points you get back when canceled.

You can make 2 separate reservations. Can't be transferred between accounts.

Considering that Platinum gets upgrades when available anyway, and the SNAs are also based on availability, that's still worth it?

Or just the best of a bunch of not-amazing options?

These will get you the update 5 days before and are systematically generated not based off thr check in agents mood

if i book 4 single nights with points one after the next and same account - if i then call Marriott will they give me the 5th night free? cant book 4/5 nights in a row for some reason its not available- but single nights are available.

Try calling to make orginal reservation and ask them to give 5th night free.

There are a few possibilities.
1 - The same room type is not available all nights
2 - Hotel blocking
3 - Marriot Glitch

If you get a good agent they should be able to credit the 5th night. Good luck finding one!

Other option [if agent cannot credit] is to pay for 5 and while you'll pay for the 5th ask them to create a case # indicating the nights consecutively were not available to he booked.
Then create a new case with Marriot while mentioning the original one.

A bit complicated but can work.

Staying at a W right now, standard paid member rate includes breakfast, non members rate is a drop more & includes breakfast as well. I booked on points & they are saying it does not include breakfast. Are they allowed to do that?

Gold. Rate did not indicate breakfast but as mentioned all paid rates include breakfast. Somebody pointed me to this https://onemileatatime.com/al-maha-award-redemptions/ which would seem they are not allowed to be doing this. Now I gotta figure out what to do.
