NYC Highway Traffic (Poll)
« on: April 19, 2018, 05:31:56 PM »
Having been all over the five boroughs in the past few years, I am curious to know what people think are the city's most dreadful highways.  (Yes, clearly I've picked up on New York's reputable positivity.)  I've tried to only include limited-access roads of 3 miles or longer.

there is no way that the cross bronx doesn't win this, if anybody doesn't vote for it, you obviously dont drive in this city. the cross bronx basically has traffic 16 out of 24 hours a day.

This poll is silly. people will vote for the highways that they drive on. That being said its gotta be either the van wyck or the belt.

Considering that more than 3 of these have parts which have traffic close to around the clock, I have to agree.

I agree 100%.  But these forums probably have many more people from Brooklyn than from Queens and ...
people will vote for the highways that they drive on.
... which explains why there are more votes for BQE and Belt than VW and CBE.

+1

I don't drive that much these days, but the first thing that came to mind looking at this was the Cross Bronx. (and I basically never drive on it, partially because I avoid it because I know it's always backed up.)

Only three!? Torture.
Why don't (most) people use public transit? Because its not built up like in Europe. Well why do people use private transportation? Because they have no other option.  Driving in Brooklyn is like sitting in a portable prison.

I’ve read that approximately 55% of New Yorkers commute with public transportation, and only 30% go by road.
