Indeed. A high risk pregnancy can easily end up costing $100,000 or more.

My question is whether this is legal on the United Refuah side.
Maybe it's best not to discuss on a public forum, but for the consumer this is the best situation.

I was going to edit your posts to say managing risks (rather than costs) but then I remembered that it isn't Insurance so I am not sure what their risks are and what their obligations are.

This is a prime example of what's wrong with the ACA and why it does nothing to reduce insurance premiums - on the contrary, it allows for this kind of abuse.

Yup, and everyone else pays for this abuse, as with any insurance abuse or fraud. Not suggesting that what RefuahHealth is doing is fraudulent.

Hope everything goes well bez”h for your relative, בעתה ובנקל.

When government gets involved, you can be sure people will take advantage. As ExGingi said, this is part of why ObamaCare is such a disaster.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Can you buy insurance when you are pregnant?
« Reply #127 on: July 14, 2021, 06:47:19 PM »
Just so you understand the current insurance market climate properly. The government is strongly encouraging people to purchase insurance policies now, regardless of their preexisting conditions. They are handing out billions in subsidies, and New York and New Jersey have opened their enrollment through the end of the year. In addition, they allow pregnant women to purchase a policy retroactively from the beginning of the pregnancy (and encourage it). There is no "abuse of the system" if someone that is pregnant buys an insurance policy. On the contrary, they want you to do so. It could be that this is the beginning of the Medicare for All plan, but regardless, anyone can purchase a policy today during open enrollment regardless of their health history. It really bothers me anytime I see posts like this one in which people "jump to conclusions".

You can read this link for some more information on how much the government is pushing these plans and how much they are putting behind it:

As far as United Refuah is concerned, I just did a google search and could not find ONE negative review for them other than one person that was not accepted for membership and was disappointed. They have 4.9 stars in Google, and they are in their fourth year of business with thousands of members in 33 states. I don't know what the situation is with this high risk birth that you mentioned, but I would be very careful to express negative opinions of a Jewish organization based on guessing.

Been on it for the day the opened. Nothing but a pleasure. B”h haven’t had any major medical expenses. Did have a baby with the plan. The only thing you need to learn is how to submit for the reimbursement.

Any issues with having a procdeire and not getting it covered.
Asking - lets you say you go to the doctor and  they say you need some blood work, do you need pre approval or can you on over and get the blood work done and get reimbursement later? This tis a specific example but asking for this in the general sense?

In general best to communicate as much as possible. Sometimes reimbursements are capped at their rates. In general I recommend them to all family and friends. Never had a issue getting reimbursed.

and now in English?
He's basically saying that all is fine and well until you get into serious medical issues, says he had a accident and got nothing as of now, they're refusing to pay the hospital bills and he needs surgery that they only approved $10k for but the doctor he was recommended wants $30k

Also says that subconsciously when you have a health share you try to not go to the doctor as much as possible which can cause undiagnosed things to become serious, and that's what happened to him.

This makes zero sense
