Topic Wiki

The Do's
Great value grill: Someone please add :)

The Dont's
Don't play with the food on the grill. Flip it once (or twice if need be), that's all.

Be careful. Once your grill gets used you can have one heck of a grease fire and destroy your grill.
I singed my face as a 10 year old (but that was leaving fires on while closing tank valve instead of closing valve then lighting new fire to burn out excess)

I usually do bigger when i do traditional grilling but A) we had 1 pound of ground meat for 4 people. B) i think this worked out better for smashing. any bigger and it would be significantly bigger than the bun. When i make a loco moco i can go bigger though.
I run into that problem all the time (meat/person). That is when I ask who wants hotdogs.  :)

Better? @CountValentine
I would say a little over kill. Knock it down to 170g.  :)
Now I am hungry!

made modified smash burgers on the flat top last night. Fantastic!
quarter pound 80/20 ground beef, s/p, smashed to about 1 inch (hence "modified"). Had a nice crust and super juicy.
Try this with 2 2.5oz patties. Season w Montreal steak seasoning. Smash them to 1/4-1/3 inch. Stack them. Bonus points if you use daiya cheese.
Get the grillgrates ripping hot first. Like 6-700 degrees.

Don't rely on cooking times - rather invest in a thermometer.

Question for you, or anyone else on here with grillgrates. I have a Broil King that came with their standard v-shape cast iron grates. While I had them out to clean one of my kids dropped them off my deck, breaking one of the 2. I'm considering either getting replacement grillgrates just for the one broken side, at a cost of ~$65 shipped, or getting stainless steel rod style for both sides for ~$40 from amazon. I'd say we have use half the grill or less a majority of the time, but still have plenty of get togethers where we absolutely use every available inch. Thoughts on grillgrates vs ss?

I'm very happy with my grill grates. In your situation I would probably but half gg and keep them upside-down as a flat cooking surface

No comparison between grillgrates and ss. Grillgrates blows SS away.

At the end of the day, they are just grates. If you give @Something Fishy and myself the same camera you won't get the same pictures.

Still on sale! And it’s a best seller.
My review:

Grilling 7/10
Price 10/10
Exterior look 5/10 (no side or back panels)
Assemble 6/10 (I put it together myself)
Interior size 8/10 (top rack is a bit low)

Over all 7/10

Anyone have a Blackstone griddle? I bought one recently, was curious what other people think of it.

(Maybe this should be a new topic?)
