Topic Wiki

The Do's
Great value grill: Someone please add :)

The Dont's
Don't play with the food on the grill. Flip it once (or twice if need be), that's all.

Be careful. Once your grill gets used you can have one heck of a grease fire and destroy your grill.
I singed my face as a 10 year old (but that was leaving fires on while closing tank valve instead of closing valve then lighting new fire to burn out excess)

was gonna say that. I didn’t know there’s a thing called grill Pam but Pam will def help.

I just wrote about wrights liquid smoke and I found it in the supermarket today, haven’t seen it before so used it today. It was delicious. Gotta try it
Regular Pam will become sticky Under high heat.

I use regular Pam all the time for grilling (think of it as same idea like spraying / oiling a frying pan before use).

If gas grill: heat grill, turn off fire, spray Pam, then relight.

Never had a problem spraying with the grill on. For some reason olive oil spray seems to flare up much worse.

Grill Pam?

Take a halved raw onion dipped in olive oil - then stick a fork in onion and rub on the grates before putting down the chicken.

Extra flavor from the onion gets into the food.

Bonus: leave the onion on the grill and you have grilled onion when you’re done (delicious on its own or together with any meat).

Yum! But is that onion clean after all that rubbing? I'd rather grill a new one...

Clean? That’s another bonus, charred meat flavor on the onion :)

If you have last summer's bbq flavor still on the grates, you're gonna need more than just Pam

expression: a crane is as good as its operator

Meaning: with a crane you can lift heavy steel, if you know how to use it, you cant just down down in it and start complaining it doesn't work

Question: a grill is the biggest scam in history, or I just don't know how to use it  :o

Story: Finally I bought a grill and what ever I put on comes out dry like paper, what am I missing here?

I believe a grill was invented after this stroy,
husband: "okay I want to help you out with the cooking"
Wife "out of the kitchen"
Husband: "sure no problem I got a grill"

you answered your own question. Invest in a meat thermometer and don't crank the heat up to max. There's skill involved in grilling, just like all other forms of cooking.
