Got scared of the delays, and renewed my GE that expires in August last week.

Got approved and extended in about 2 business days. Expiration date is 5 years past old one, so doesn't seem to he a downside to doing it early.

Applied for renewal and needed to schedule an interview.
The date is for end of Jan.
Can I walk in to JFK (with no arriving flight) for an interview.
If approved, how long will it take for pre check to reactivate?

Thanks,
I ended up checking the websites multiple times a day till I found a same day appointment at night that worked.
Note: even though when you select the location it only shows the next appointment 1 month + away, once you click on the daily calendar you see 1 or 2 random openings much closer.

Can the Global Entry card be used for Real ID?

NJ is pretty late to the party and is making it so annoying to get the cards before October. Meanwhile, I just renewed GE and they sent a new card.

Anyone know what criteria they use to determine whether a US Citizen needs an on-site Interview for a GE Renewal ?

I don't believe there are published criteria. I did not - I was approved in 48 hours and now see 5 year extension and got new card in the mail.
