I.e. if for example my GE expired a year ago, and I just applied for renewal a week ago, and it's still pending.
You're saying it will still work as intended (both GE and TSA-Pre line) the entire duration it's pending?

If you renewed it before it expires (you can renew it up to a year before).

I paid the app fee for my wife in Jul 22, kept pushing off appt, had schuleded for june, she missed it. Just rebooked for august.
Is there a point that if she doesnt do the interview shell need to redo the app and pay again?

If I need to renew my GE. But i Want to get Nexus. Though the wait time I hear is many weeks to months. Is it a better idea to renew my GE and then apply for the Nexus after the fact?

What would you lose? Isn’t GE renewal fully online? Not harder to do Nexus after being GE. A credit?

DP: I applied for my child on Sep 7 (Right when I received their passport.) I was conditionally approved yesterday (October 31, took approximately 2 months). I have a flight to the US tomorrow!!!

Applied for DW on Sun night got pre-approval this morning. She applied in early 2020 but then never did the interview due to COVID and the pre-approval expired so this was a new application.

Approvals take long by you? Did many all were 2-3 days.

Applied for GE for DD 53 weeks ago (over a year!) but status is still "Pending Review". She previously had Nexus but since she turned 18, when I went to renew Nexus it wasn't free anymore so I "applied new" for GE (free with CC reimbursement). I thought approval would have been much faster than regular GE because they already did background checks for Nexus. Is it possible the application review is stuck because of this? Anyway to get it unstuck?

You'll need to activate your GE card that comes in the mail to get your account up and running.

Yah, you should get it by then. Usually get the cards within a week. And then activate the account online with the 3 digits from the back of the card.

 Though very possible the TSA pre may be working already.  A simple Google search may be able to help you with that question. Or someone who may have tried that after going for an interview.

Although you do have to wait for approval, which can be right away or sometimes even up to 30 days. (Usually happens within a few hours but have seen a few exceptions)

How long did initial approval take?

I submitted my renewal more then 6 weeks ago and it's still pending.

Renewed again and approved 36 hours later.

 But good to hear that it works instantly.

 Curios if one applied for GE can they swap it for a TSA interview instead? Or one is stuck with GE interview and needs to go down to the airport?
