This is not a F/R --- my cards stiil work and my accounts are open --- but my MR account, my wife's MR account and my in-laws MR accounts are blocked from redeeming points or transferring points to partners.
I am trying to book flights for myself, my wife and my in-laws to Japan on ANA using ANA miles. We travel together often. As I am the only one with an ANA account and I am an authorized user on my in-laws accounts, my sister-in-law's account and my wife's account, here's what we did.
1. My mother-in-law transferred her entire balance of Amex points to my ANA account. Points were deducted immediately. (Points do not post immediately with ANA, it takes around 48 hours to post, so we waited).
2. My father-in-law transferred his entire balance of Amex points to my ANA account. Points were deducted immediately.
3. My sister-in-law transferred her entire balance of Amex points to my ANA account. Points were deducted immediately.
4. My wife attempted to transfer less than half her Amex points to my ANA account. The transfer was blocked. A warning said that the account was frozen as it appears to there has been a sale of miles against Amex policy.
5. I logged into my account to attempt a transfer of some Amex points and got a similar message/accusation and that my account was under review for violations of policy.
Around 48 hours later, only the transfer by my sister-in-law went through and posted to my ANA account, the first two transfers (by my in-laws) were cancelled and Amex points were returned to their accounts. They MR activity is now blocked too.
I called Amex and tried to explain. They indicated there was nothing I could do and that a review would be undertaken and that it would take 6-8 weeks.
I have to believe this has happened to someone else before. Does anyone have any insight or suggestions?
I can understand why the successive transfers appears suspicious, but I am pretty sure we did not violate any policies.
Thanks
