What a dumb blogger. There are so many things wrong with this article, it's crazy how an advertiser wants to be seen on the same page. Who wants to take to the comments to point out the lies in this post, such as having the IHG credit card having anything to do with promotion. They'll do anything to sell a couple of credit cards.

I love how he makes it sound as if he actually got the status when in all likelihood this won't be honored for anyone. The things these people do to pander to the idiots who follow them, just to get them to sign up for a CC is egregious.

You can add any *A FFN but you'll only get gold benefits of you add the gold FFN.

No, it comes from whatever airline you have the status with.

In order to get gold benefits you need to add the ffn that has gold status to the booking, if you want the miles on a different account you can change it by the gate.

I've had issues with what your saying before.
I've entered one mileage program (MVP) which got me better seating at booking, but at the gate, it took a phone call and a couple minutes for the gate agent to switch over to my other program (AA) and retain my special seating preference.

Again, YMMV.

gate agents are often incompetent.
Back in the day I used to change it at the lounge.
Also i believe if all you're using it for is econ+ then you can call in advance after selecting your seats, to change the FFN.

No, only if you have status with UA.
