Looking into these now, the reviews online are so varied it's almost worthless.I don't have a wired bell so the nest is not even an option for me, can anyone give an honest opinion about the ring? How long does the battery last? What do you with it for Shabbos? Do you pay for the cloud recording?TIA
Ring, Nest, Comelit which one? a Cat5 is run from the doorbell to the router, so POE, Wifi are all options.
I would highly recommend the Nest Hello over the ring. You cannot compare the quality and features.
I use the Nest Hello, and there is an option to schedule the camera on/off, which is cool for Shabbos, it works automatically, then you can turn schedule on and off when you are away for Shabbos
If you don’t already have a wired traditional doorbell then Nest is not an option, unless you want to spend $500+ having a low-voltage technician set it up.
Ring also has a schedule but the motion still shows up on the log.
Does nest motion show up also?
No. The camera turns off completely if you set the schedule.
So definitely the way to go... Thx
So I set the schedule on my ring 2 to disable motion over Shabbos but based on what you said I still took out the battery each week. This past Shabbos I was away and I did not remove the battery and I noticed that for the duration of Shabbos there is nothing in the log.Look at the attached you'll see there are no events from Friday at 1:27 when I left until Shabbos at 8:05 when I came back and I know for sure that at least one event should be there over Shabbos because a. I usually get one or two passing cars that set it off and b. the mailman always sets it off So does that mean I no longer need to remove the battery?
Dunno, maybe they updated the programming. Should be easy to test it out during the week...
No good, even with no logging or alerts it still sets off the infrared
