Sorry if this has been discussed already.
I'm planning on transferring 270k marriott points into 132k united miles and 7 night stay...
How long does it generally take for marriott to transfer points into my united account?

Once SPG and Marriott merge, will the new 7-night packages (however they are reassigned) still be upgradable to a higher category, or will they be frozen at the purchased category?

hard to know, but its most probable that the value of the certificate will go up - as there will be less of them in the marker ( they are starting to give less points for the transfer)

Have a big balance of SPG points, thinking to buy 2 travel packages, unsure whether to choose United or Alaska for the miles? Although you get a few more United miles, which can easily be acquired from UR, Alaska miles are hard to come by, which would you do, Alaska or United with the 7 day package.? With the remaining SPG points, when they transfer to Marriott points, will the transfer to airlines remain the same as currently, or will it be devalued? Thanks

The transfer to most airlines will be the same. They haven't yet announced the rates for Air New Zealand, Matmid, and jetblue. United will be the sane as other airlines at a 3:1 plus a 5,000 bonus if you transfer 60,000.

Dan, so United will not be the same as currently? Would you transfer to Alaska or United? I know it depends, I am very low on Alaska points but have a lot of UR, mostly use to TLV, and Europe.

when buying hotel + air package - can i credit the miles to someone else's FF? do the names (first and or last) need to match up?

I don't know but why don't you just transfer the points to account with matching name? They allow you to go over the 50K transfer in order to purchase a travel package.

I am planning a trip to Hawaii for Feb from Sunday-Thursday, so 4 nights total. I currently have the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort booked for 240,000 points. Is it worth it to spend 360,000 points on a 7 night cert and get airline points?

Can I use the cert and only stay 4 nights then leave?

Of those two options, you definitely should go with a package if you have the points. You're essentially paying 120k MT for 132k UA.

Of course you can leave early. But since you'll have 3 nights, why don't you gift the remainder of your stay to someone?

be careful doing this and make sure you trust the person. @Dan got screwed doing this
