Yeah, I've also gotten on gold, the problem is: I was recently downgraded to Silver. And officially, they dont offer upgrades to silver.  But when I made the reservation I was still gold, and they put in a request for an upgrade, any chance it will still be honored?

IME, approx 90%.
I've only been turned down a couple of times when I really tried to get it. Sometimes, I'll request a confirmed upgrade from the hotel to a one bedroom immediately after booking and then request an upgrade to a two bedroom when checking (usually online).
Most of our success has been with TownePlace and Residence Inn, though we've also received such upgrades at an occasional Comfort Suites (2 bedrooms are rare), Hyatt House, Embassy Suites,  Staybridge Suites, Sonesta ES, and Candlewood Suites.
Most recent upgrade was winter break at the awesome Residence Inn, Neptune, NJ in mid February.
My wife wanted to wait to do YT clothing shopping when I went to kasher a pesach hotel near Lakewood but for some reason a friend urged her not to wait until last minute.... :)

What's awesome about Residence Inn, Neptune, NJ? Interesting attractions nearby? any nearby Minyanim?

Another option and it’s brand new I think less than 2 years old:

I've stayed there a bunch of times and have always been upgraded to a two bedroom suite.
They have an indoor pool. Most residence inns I stay at ain't have indoor pools. Overall, management has been super gracious in allowing extra "guests" to come use the pool with us.

many (most?) Suites hotels have two bedroom suites. Using Google maps, you can easily find those hotels near national parks and then just check their website
Check every website is not the answer I was looking for.
That's a pretty tedious way to search for hotels in the 21st century.

And IME recently I called so many hotels that I was about to book with points, and the vast majority either claimed they didn't have any 2br suites (although the word "suite" is often in their brand name) or claimed that I'd have to pay for an upgrade (if it was available).
This was with IHG (platinum) and Marriott (gold).

BH the kids were usually tired so the 1br's were mostly survivable.

If only there was a hotel search engine which offered a search option for 2br suites.

Any new way to search for 2+ bedroom suites in hotels? The check every property method is really not feasible
Jury Duty: Nothing to do there but chill and write a TR. Kinda like the beach but missing the view and ocean breeze.

I am looking for a 1+ bedroom suite hotel that i can book with IHG miles/reward nights, anywhere within 2 hours of Brooklyn. Anyone have any recommendations? (Not which brands etc but recommendations of specific hotels...) thanks!

use the ihg map search. Filter by Staybridge and Candlewood. Most Staybridge have 2 bedrooms, less so with Candlewood. Most are not bookable directly with points but I've always received an upgrade to a two bedroom.
