They told me that they cannot rate based on education anymore. 20% across the board raise. paying ~$665 a month  :o
2011 Chevy Suburban,
2008 Honda Pilot
2017 Honda Accord

Full Coverage on all.

2 drivers
1k deductible
So if the kid is at school 100 miles away does that mean that the third car is sitting at home unused most of the time or that it is with the kid at the school 100 miles away?

Its not fraud if the insurance compamy has a remedy of denial of coverage. It may look like fraud which is why I didnt answer the original question. And when you get coy or evasive answers usually it means someone doesnt want to answer your question. I just thought it was so obvious. You learn some people cant think outaide a box. I dont mean you.

if you lie about where the vehicle is primarily garaged, (a question on every car insurance application), it's fraud. The fine print states clearly that of you change the primary location you must notify them. And while lack of notification may not be fraud, an upfront lie is.

Paying NY premiums while garaging it outside of NYC is not a fraud any insurance company is going to chase or care about. And who said anything about garaging a car outside of NY its all about children that dont live at home. Why should my insurance be 3 times what I pay now because I have a 19 year old who has a license and is in Israel?

Wrong. If they realize that it's to avoid paying for another driver they will and have gone after people for it.

there were clear implications upthread indicating that the car was possibly with the student not living at home

You got me, master of thinking out of the box. You just love your ad hominem attacks.
I just don't get paying for insurance that will deny you in the even if a catastrophic claim. What's the point?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

I got bounced by Allstate after a major accident 12k payout. Geico rate was double what I was paying Allstate. Now its more than 20% raise because the recent accident surcharge goes up as well. Was paying $265 to Allstate.  Also added the new car.
Can insurance companies just get rid of you like that, because they had to pay out?

Geico did it to me in 2005 after I had non-chargeable accident. They paid out for total loss on 9/11 and then another accident that was deemed not my fault and then said, they wouldnt renew so long as I was an EMT. Was with Allstate until last year when they paid out 3 claims, 2 of which were not at fault and one which was. They just say that they will not renew.

Any accidents involve a driver not listed on the policy?

Allstate
Cedarhurst
18 sonata
$755 for 6 months
2 drivers
$50 a day for rental
300/500 BI
100 property
$500 deductible
Having just gone through a claim against an allstate insured I think you should know that they are extremely stingy when paying out. Every one I spoke to right away said allstate was the worst, including the car rental place and auto body shop. They haggled over every dollar, refusing to replace a broken part with a new one, instead only paying for a used part. Also deducted money from their payment since part of the part that needed to be replaced had preexisting damage, even though the whole part needed to be replaced anyway.
