Maybe. I wonder why no Shomer Shabbos passengers got sick in NYC and force them to allow deplaning in NYC. A situation like this can cause lots of stress and anxiety, which might be Pikuach Nefesh.

There's a voice note going around that while waiting on the tarmac the frum passengers refused to sit down, they were assured they were going back to the gate and the pilot tricked them and took of instead.. (not quite sure how no one realized).. as well as there's a video of them in a hotel in Athens.. my guess is that because of the medical emergency they don't need to transfer to isra air.. not that the frum passengers are on the flight..

I guess those frum passengers were too naïve by thinking that just refusing to sit down would make a difference. Someone should have thrown a real panic attack tantrum.

Landing in FCO with less than 2 hours to Shabbos isn't a decent choice. They could have landed in FRA, LON, PAR or maybe even Basel, Zurich or Vienna, where there are more established Jewish communities, and they should have made an effort to land in a place that gives more time between actual landing and Shabbos.

Now you're being picky.  They landed. That's an upgrade from last time.
They could have chosen better. I assume the costs work out best here.

I can understand the first, though I have a hard time figuring out the 2nd part about boarding flights that are scheduled to land ערב שבת אחר חצות היום, especially when there are weather issued.

People that need to be in IL for Shabbos but cant miss a day of work (Thurs). When weather is messed up they cant change to earlier flight since its all full.

This obviously doesnt apply to every passenger, but definitely a scenario that people have and therefore let's not judge.
