Lebanon Master Thread
« on: June 20, 2018, 08:25:32 AM »
Anyone been to Beirut? Or anywhere else in Lebanon? Can I get in to the country with a US Passport (no Israel stamps) even with my Very Jewish Name?

Really?! US citizen living (lived?) in Israel coming in from Lebanon. If anyone has half a brain you're added to the system.

You can get a visa on arrival. Make sure your ticket is not on one PNR. Otherwise, they will see your records at the airport. Hezbollah is in control of the airport and much of the state. Possible nothing will happen and you will have an interesting time. The other possibility is somewhat bleaker.
If you make it back home, good luck explaining it to either the Israelis or the US officials at the border. If you are an Israeli citizen, I believe you are committing a crime.
Do you really want to go?

The plan is to travel to a European country on one ticket & from there to Lebanon on another ticket. Therefore no one will know where I’ve been. I also have two US Passports, which is always helpful.

What is the reason for the trip?

No tfilin, no Jewish things, no accidental hebrew on your t-shirt or the bottom of your sandals, no kosher food.
Do you only want to stay in Beirut? Is it a stunt for 24 hours or you want to see the country?

Id like to be there for two days and one night. Like 36 hours. I’m going to need to take my tefillin along, they do have freedom of religion there, so I’m hoping it won’t be an issue.

@Hershelsdeals

As far as I know he hasn't experienced any issues because of that.

While I would think so, it may not be that bad. Also it may be better telling them that your Jewish upfront rather then "catch" you and arrest you on espionage etc.

How do you plan on paying for your ticket? They know if you're buying ingredients to make meth, they'll know if you've been to Lebanon.

i would assume much worse. Iran has a centralized govt with strong control and care about their image of not being anti semites just anti israel.  Beirut at least used to be one of the most dangerous cities in the world wth different terror groups running their own fiefdoms.
I’m not Israeli. And I have two US Passports.
is that legal

Yes it is legal. You can get a 2nd passport too. It’s pretty simple.
