As Erdogan just managed to cement his autocracy (bordering on dictatorship), it boggles my mind how voters, who are presumably well educated and have known nothing but a democratic system in their lifetime, end up giving autocratic power at the ballot box.
We’ve seen this in Venezuela previously, with a very miserable ending (chapters still being written).
And while many would lump Russia into the same category, I think there are some significant differences, though there's no doubt that Putin wields a lot more power than any western leader.
How do intelligent voters let this happen?
