I have been banking with chase for quite a few years now. I have a pc account and never did anything suspicious on my account. Just saw this morning that all my cc’s are closed, and after calling my banker, she told me there is a note on my accounts that they will be closed. I have no idea what could have triggered this as I use my cc’s and bank accounts in a normal legit manner. I never missed a payment, wasn’t involved in any funny transactions/ loans. Any clue what this can be? Any advice on how I can get this reinstated?

Update: the reason that may have triggered my shutdown according to a banker that has lots of knowledge in his area is that I paid my credit card from my business account. I was using a personal cc legitimately for my business because I didn’t want to open a new business cc and get a hard pull.

I think @Dan (after prime day) should do a main post on the DDMS with all the possible reasons chase can shut you down, so we know what to avoid.

seems like these banks can do what they want when they want with little or no reason.

its funny you can have a great relationship with a bank, do everything in a legit manner and one day you wake up and its over with barley an explanation and no recourse.

Then you have those who abuse the heck out of banks and they do nothing. Go figure.

With all of these Chase closings, should I try to liquidate my Chase points or at least keep them at a minimum? Will I loose all of my points if they decide to close my accounts for no apparent reason?

No they usually give you 30 days IIRC to remove the points.

Asking for a friend...for real  ;D

I've heard that when you deposit checks from buying groups directly to your chase account, they shut you down. Should I deposit to a different bank account and then transfer that money to my chase account, and then use that money to pay off the CC's from chase that I have been using for the buying groups?

Thanks

Why not just pay off your CC from the "different bank" that you deposit the checks into?

I think the problem is when you pay the cc with the checks.  Not when you deposit it to chase.

Any questionable check can trigger a shutdown.
best is to use a low key bank to deposit the check then pay the CC from the 2nd bank

Not disputing that a 2nd bank is safe.
But why would a buying group check be questionable?

2nd Bank is safer and can always open a 3rd if the 2nd gets closed.
Getting the card closed is worse then a random bank
Regarding the 2nd question you had.. read this thread entirely ;)

Like Joel mentioned, this thread goes through all the shutdowns and, Chase experiences with depositing BG checks.

In the past while I can't remember the last time I deposited a BG Check in my Chase account.
Always into my Santander or TD account and used those accounts to pay my Chase, Barclays, Amex and whatever else that needs to be paid.

Same.
