Trumpers think since they have a razor thin majority in the senate (which can easily become a minority pretty soon), they can confirm anyone. They need 100% support among republicans, which they'll get for some nominees but not all. And keep in mind McCain may not vote.
The 58 comes from what they believe will be after the midterms.

I, Same credentials, thought 53 would be an easy shot, although 58 may be a far cry, the D's have 20 seats up.
Only 5 of them are toss ups per RCP. Of course anything can happen, but 58 is extremely unlikely IMO
