Continental Reward Availability
« on: August 09, 2011, 05:19:29 PM »
Can anyone think of a reason why a non-elite Continental account would be showing more availability (elite availability?) for award travel then another non-elite account or just being logged out?

Sounds weird. On airfare we know they do personalized prices with cookies and IP address's. Never heard of something like this in award travel.

Yup makes no sense. When I am logged in to my continental account I have a ton of availability and it does say non-elite, but on my wifes or logged out there is no 12.5k availability...

Problem was that she had the miles in her account and I wanted to use those up, I ended up calling in and spoke to a few people who all said there is no availability. I finally got a guy who said to book it and then give him the confirmation number and he would switch it to my wifes account. :D

He said for some reason the computer is allowing my account to book XN class fares which are the Elite fares...

Unless you're trying to use miles from bot acct's simultaneously , just book it from your wife account and make the ticket on your name.

I was trying to book it from my wifes account but the flights weren't showing as available...

just keep in my mind if it really is a mistake there's always a chance they won't honor it.

The guy said the computer made the mistake and allowed you to book in XN class so we will honor it. When he transferred over the itinerary to my wifes account he manually switched it to X class...

Although I am wondering if it is really a mistake... Would having the CO account linked to an AMEX MR account help? How about a Chase Credit Card?

Your amex wont affect your CO. If you have a CO cc its likely you have some kind of higher status than the plain user

@blazer - is it on Air Canada? they charge high fees. Book on a different star alliance partner - CO, UA, etc.

Still the flight can be an AC flight. Check if the flight number starts with AC or CO. (doesn't matter who's metal it is but who's flight it is - flight number)

Call Continental and ask them to manually add you to that flight, They did that for my wife for free.

I had the same issue 3 weeks ago

Somewhere in the forums someone mentioned he was told by CO they have been having many problems since the introduction of OW rewards.

I wonder if the AA workaround would work for CO too - book for a month then call to make a free change to your travel dates.
