I wonder if the AA workaround would work for CO too - book for a month then call to make a free change to your travel dates.
Nope.  If you change to a CO flight within 21 days you are charged a change fee.

Good to know. I actually just traveled on a CO award and payed the late fee, so now I feel better about it.

My cousin just payed AA the $125. Can she cancel (within 24hrs) and do the work around?

question is if AA would let her cancel. And if they would return the miles quickly enough for her to book again

We've got one (possibly 2?) report on the forums of it working for UA anyone successful recently?

when you book an award for travel within 21 days from now, UA/CO will charge you about $100 for a 'quick processing' fee.

The workaround is to book the travel for a month from now, then change the dates to when you want to fly. CO charges the fee also for changing an itinerary into 21-days, but UA still doesn't. Award changes are free. You can transfer points between CO and UA.

Since when is CO charging change fee when its less than 24hrs from ticketing??
I did the workaround with Co a few monthe ago, I booked it the same date of the month but a month later than I called that it was a mistake and they should switch it to a month b4, didnt pay anything

Anyone with updated info about changing CO awards form out to within the 21-day period?
There's contraindicating info in the thread. Or maybe YMMV

How many free bags?

Well on one reservation they only took one bag and on a different reservation they took 2 bags. Both printed with elite and both had no charge...
