I searched the forum and didn’t find an answer. I’m looking for a cc to open so I can do a balance transfer of 9k ASAP. I just found out my chase Freedom Unlimited ended interest free this month. I’d like to transfer the balance to pay it off in the next few months but want to avoid the interest on the chase. Any leads?
Thanks in advance.

You can't transfer balances from one Chase card to another, so Slate won't work.

Search 0% cards and see what you might apply for.  They often offer balance transfers on the application, so the transfer will happen soon after you're approved.

Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express
Discover it® Cash Back
Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card

Looks like the best of the bunch.
Good luck.

The latter 2 have BT fees, so I'd keep an eye on the Everydays. If you can MS the debt you can open a 0% card even with a BT fee and just MS on that card, and pay off the debt.

While there are good amount of  cards that are  0 % interest on balence transfers a lot of them  charge a balance transfer fee of like 3% .

Another good card that comes to mind is the Jetblue plus card they do have a  $95 annual fee but if you have a reason to use the points it might be worth it.

Maybe Plastiq is an option with a 0% interest card.

Someone who cannot pay it off should not be looking at the cc mileage game at all. They will end up paying much more than revenue.

;D :o  Its not always true and it actually depends how you look at it, technically you might be loosing money or just breaking even in the long run but you still have a "money" set a aside for specifically travel.

That is if you can get out of your credit card debt. The tendency is that once it starts it will spiral out of control get quickly and you end up with long term debt for your travel money. You would be better off just putting the travel onto a low interest loan at the time. It will save lots of interest.

Thank you so much everyone!
Pardon my ignorance, what is “MS” here and how does it apply to the balance transfer debt? As Davidrotts63 wrote “If you can MS the debt you can open a 0% card even with a BT fee and just MS on that card, and pay off the debt.”

Fake spend. Aka turn the credit line on the card into cash.

Unless it is all under control, ie you have a set amount that you borrowed for 6 months etc.

citi simplicity is a good option they give you 18 months no interest and then at some point in that 18 months you could also get a another promotional interest free transfer ..so you get lots of time another thing i found helpful was that i was able to request a credit increase after a few months without a credit check so if you want to transfer more or just want to keep utilization lower it can help

AMEX EveryDay has a $0 fee/0% offer for new balance transfers.  And might have some utility long term in certain spend categories assuming the OP can find value in MRs.

Discover has a standard offer of 0% APR with a 3% fee, but they also have other offers like $0 fee and 4.99% APR.  @ 4.99%, if you borrow $10K and pay back $3400/mo, you only end up paying $80 for those three months.  There's ways to get $50 sign up bonuses for Discover.

Also don't discount getting another usable card with a sign up bonus.  The SUB can offset the balance transfer fees, and then you have another good CC once the debt is paid off.

I've see Discover it with 0% APR and $0 fee if transfer done within 60 days of account opening. Not sure if it's a public offer or if it's still available. I've used it.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
