Off Brand Doona for Less?

Newest craze is folks shelling out $500 for a carseat with 4 wheels.

Some on ebay selling a knockoff it for around $300 (link) shipped from CN, and some folks on alibaba doing it for $100 territory for semi-bulk orders (link). Just realized they're all without a base (can use with carseat buckle).

Anyone have any experience with these knockoffs?

its not only a car seat, its a carriage as well.  for $100 difference i would pay for the brand name which is probably backed by a warranty

One step further.. car seat safety is a huge deal. I wouldn't risk compromising on that for any amount saved by buying an off brand or aliexpress model, which may not have the same levels of safety testing.

You can get nearly the same value with snap and go for 1/5 price.
And you'll need to shell out another large sums for a real stroller.

It really comes down to how much are the kids worth? There are federal mandates and guidelines for car seats that car seat makers need to abide by. These rules are for safety reasons and I don’t know if I’d trust a knock off company with the safety of my kids.

Obviously you never tried the Doona. It eliminates the getting the piece from the trunk along with no trunk space hogged by it.

Very true - MY SIL had hers broken by TSA and the co. shipped her a new one just as long as she sent hers back. She said they were great to deal with.

a stroller is one thing....car seats are built to protect your baby and have strict standards.....you can buy a knock off stroller -dont buy a knock-off car seat - its not worth your kids life.

its really funny to see people in a grocery pushing a Doona and balancing their  few items on the carriage,  hood under their chin and that bottle of milk next to the baby etc etc

The doona is by far the best travel purchase I've ever made.
And it costs $350 directly from Doona without the base.
