Author Topic: Destinations with Shuls/Chabads near Points Hotels (Read 28766 times)

Another nice idea, although how do you define it? All I personally need is a staircase that doesn't have lights turn on and a manual door in the lobby to get out. Others want manual keys to their room, a place they can officially light candles, the ability to open their balcony door without the AC turning off, etc.

Just separated into regions. For some reason everytime I hit "preview" in the Edit Wiki page, it automatically publishes the wiki, so you'll see lots of wiki edits in the history as I was checking to see how things looked. There is something @Something Fishy going on there.

Amsterdam has tons in walking distance to the Portuguese shul. I stayed at Andaz (in Eruv), but there's also a Hyatt Regency, IC, and Doubletree, plus a Hilton and a Marriott a bit further.

There's also another shul - Rav Ahron Schuster that's closer to the Hilton and Marriott.

I think most people would hold of your definition. You can write the definition in a footnote

I have like 3-4 questions that I ask before, basically lights in staircase, access to staircase without needing a key card to get in and out, motion sensors in the room, manual door to lobby. Ironically whenever making these calls, it always occurs to me that a terrorist would ask very similar questions.....

I only stayed in AMS during the week (stayed at this hotel actually) and didn't realize there were so many Shul options and how large the Eruv is! I put a lot of them in the wiki. Next to the HI was a Chabad yeshiva/shul that isn't coming up on Google. Do you know if it moved? Also, why does AMS have so many Shuls not in the "Jewish" area...?

I specifically picked AMS due to the Eruv over other places. The Jewish community was in city center before the war. There has been a movement to keep some of the older shuls going. The old Ashkenazi shul was destroyed, but the Jewish museum was built on the old site and part of it is a full sized replica of the shul.
