Hi,

I'm looking for a solid mesh system.
I have Verizon Fios gigabit speeds so I need something that will maintain those speeds.
I don't mind spending a bit more on something that will work really well as this is an investment and I will be using the wifi for work so I want this to work perfectly.

Any recommendations between the more popular ones like Google wifi, Eero, and Orbi?

Google wifi, haven't had a problem and I've installed it in a few places so far.

I'm not at any of the locations at the moment but I do know that beforehand all the wemos and other wifi devices kept dropping, like weekly, and since the install I havent had a problem.

Just as an FYI, most mesh wifis aren't as fast as the top of the line single routers. The main benefit is ease of setup, modularity, and no switching networks.

If you have gigabit speeds, you probably will get half that via wifi if close to the main unit and 1/4 that in the rest of the house. Don't expect 800mbps in your basement.

I have google connected to xfinity gigabit. Router is getting 850mbps speed from modem, top floor wifi gets around 500mbps, and bottom floors/basement around 200mbps. Entire home is covered by the signal including ~50feet outside. Comcast is coming tomorrow to try and optimize the speed, but I'd prefer 200mbps throughout house to 700mbps near router and 30mbps in basement.

I saw a few reviews with speedtests and they all were pretty similar, but google was on the lower end of the top mesh systems. I got mine for free and probably would have invested in a different one if I had to pay $250 for it, but so far its working great. I'm not sure how important spending $50 more for 50mbps of a speed increase (with worse software) would be, especially since all of these systems are poor standalone routers. I expect the technology to improve significantly in 1-2 years

Is it complicated to set up?
I heard that there were issues with the firmware and frequent drops.

I heard the same thing and IIRC it was with earlier models. I have not had one issue so far. Had it about 6 months. Know 2 others that installed after me and no reported issues. This is for the RBK50.

I’m not hard wired and don’t think any system will have no drop with the number of walls etc in my house.

I don’t remember the link, but the speed tests I saw for Orbi def had a similar drop

Not the satellite. Remember Orbi uses a back channel to communicate with the satellite.
