How many sheitals does your wife have?

Keep in mind that some women don’t wear sheitals to cover their hair all the time. That can extend the life of their sheitals.

If I remember correctly there was one that was cheaper than the rest that we got early on that looked pretty good but did not last long at all until it was no longer suitable to wear to work. The others have lasted 2-3+ years alternating them from shabbos to weekday....

Yep, I've heard one time as high as $10k, but more realistically, the most I heard of is $5k.

There’s a woman we know who bought a $275 Chinese sheitel and gets compliments at work. Others have had horrendous experiences. If I recall there was a comment posted a while back about someone receiving a Chinese sheitel that was full of nits. So I don’t think there’s a one size fits all solution when it comes to sheitels. Generally speaking a high end sheitel is going to be more likely to have a customized, comfortable fit, more authentic hair color match, higher quality hair, etc. and if bought from someone who has a high end reputation to maintain, more likely to have any issues addressed, but there will obviously be exceptions, and of course there will be those who paid a fraction of the price and feel like they got all of the above....

I’m sure there are guy on DDF who will swear by Brooks Brothers shirts and Ecco shoes and there are others who buy the Stafford shirts when they go on sale@ $9.99 and department store shoes, get complimented on their appearance, and don’t know what all the fuss is about. Ok to explain in your language.Its not that she doesnt understand nice wigs.  My wife has a bunch of wigs. Including over $3k wigs. Yet the one that gets her the most compliments are the $750 one.   Do you understand now?  Im not talking right or wrong.  Talking experience

So is that a reflection on the quality of the $750 wig or on the 3k plus wig? When a guy buys a high end car, even if there is a lower end car comparable functionality wise, there’s brand recognition that is a status symbol, and gives him bragging rights. A sheitel doesn’t have brand recognition, so if the cheaper sheitels were comparable across the board in terms of looks,comfort, and longevity, it would follow that the whole high end sheitel market would necessarily be a scam. Is that your point? Or are you saying that there are exceptions, but agree that generally there is a correlation between high end and quality, in which case we are in agreement...

5 in <5 years, but one we resold, so I'd say we've had 4.
Only 1 has fallen apart (was a $300 one).

Seems like we're on pace with some people and far behind/worse than others. Don't have any >$2k but I wouldn't say that explains it because again only a $300 one has gone to trash. The rest are still great.

Someone who washes sheitels would probably be a good resource. They see hundreds of different sheitels and can tell you which ones are likely to hold up...
