Are there any baby monitors that can be connected to a smartphone cheaper than the dropcam linked above?
Foscam.

What would be a good option for a baby monitor with night vision that I can use a app in the $50 range?

Hi.. I am looking to buy a baby monitor. Are there any good sales out there now? I don't know whether I want one with video or not. I think just sound is enough. I've never owned one before, so dunno what to look for.

Thanks for ur help in advance.

I'm happy with this one:
http://www.amazon.com/VTech-DM221-Sound-Digital-Monitor/dp/B007NG5UF4
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

If you don't care for night vision, if you have an old smart phone lying around you could turn that into a convenient baby monitor. I personally like the paid app baby monitor 3G (got it for free with Amazon credits). You download it on both phones (or more than 2 I.. me and my wife both have it) It blocks out the random little baby noises and alerts you when baby starts crying. Has talk feature to speak to baby. Also has video and could turn on the flashlight remotely to see better with video.

This Nest Cam is great as a Baby monitor
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WBJGUA2/?tag=cl03f-20
24/7 live video streaming - See your home on your phone in 1080p HD. And control Nest Cam from anywhere
Alerts on your phone - Get motion and sound alerts so you know if anything happens
Night Vision done right - See the whole room at night - not just a limited spotlight view
Talk and listen - Hear the baby. Or talk back to get someone's attention
Quick, easy setup - Plug in Nest Cam and download the Nest app to get started. No hub needed
:-)

Nest is $200 each, can't store video locally, and costs for cloud storage.

Why is that any better than the Amcrest IP2M-841 at half price, can record locally, and offers 4 free hours of cloud storage?

Why would you need a video monitor?

So our video monitor is useless. Why? We mute it so it doesn't wake us and flip it on its face so the room stays nice and dark.

Work hard, Play harder!

Why would you need a video monitor?

Further, I was responding to the suggestion of getting a Nest.

I'm looking for a baby monitor with the capability to connect to Wi-Fi and watch from my cellphone, be able to connect to multiple cellphones at once, and come with a regular monitor screen so I (my next door neighbor) should be able to use it without wifi. And of course a good one..  Any advice?
