Both DW and myself got declined for too much credit. Any point in calling recon?
Sure. Ask them transfer over credit from existing accounts.

Applied for second premier card. Was denied instantly. Called recin, was told nothing to do but wait for letter bec. I already had premier card open. And bec. I had a late payment in last six months. She called back a short while later and left a message saying she was able to change their decision and I was approved

Wow! Which number you called?
1 800 695 5171

she asked why I wanted a second one. I said I want one for my wife. she recommended making her an AU. "oh, I can make her an AU?"
I was pleasant and asked her to clarify a few times why she couldn't overturn the decision....
Don't know if it makes a difference, I called around 9:00 A.M. EST and was connected right away to a friendly, somewhat intelligent sounding CSR.
DEf. my best citi experience ever

Just got instant declined. Great credit. No citi cards. Rep said to many pulls recently. No idea what they could be. Any reason to try and fight that?

Applied for the AA platinum card and got denied despite having 2 Citi cards in great standing.
Reasons given: too many recent inquiries, not enough credit utilization.
Recon reps won’t budge, and can’t shift existing credit line without first having the card approved.
Anything I can do now?
Also, am I supposed to ask banks to lower my credit line to increase the utilization percentage? I was recently approved for very high credit lines from Barclays and Amex despite only trying to get the SUB.

Are you able to shift credit line from the citi premier to the citi double cash?

AFAIK you cannot shift/reallocate credit limits across Citi credit cards.

You can reallocate Citi credit limits between Citi CCs if you reach the Citi executive offices but it will be another hard credit pull and not sure if you can do it for a new card application not approved yet, my only experience is between open accounts

Per their recon rep, CL can be shifted but only after the card is open, not to get a new one approved.

I think that is the opposite of what they want. They want you using your credit not ignoring it. Why not try spending 1k and applying again in a couple weeks
