A big point here, is finding a charity that appeals to all sects of Judaism. We need to figure out where we can give this cash to, that most of the people who are interested in this raffle, would want to give $ to.
Why do we have to make it confusing. We can leave out the charity and make a simple raffle that covers the exact cost of the trip?
Because many seem to be more willing to enter based on the fact that a percentage will be going to charity. With the amount of tickets we need to sell, having it all go solely to pay for someones cruise, may deter those less interested. Also, if we don't sell out, it would be a mess returning all the money.
I don't really get that. My $100 or $180 or whatever is going towards the cruise regardless, tacking on extra money for a tzedakah isn't changing that.
Not necessarily. The first $xx,xxx raised is going towards the cruise. Let's say it's sells like crazy, and we raise $100k, the leftovers would all go to tzedaka
Not so difficult. nobody pays unless we have enough ppl signed up in the wiki. We should accept a few more then needed if ppl don't follow thru.
I hear. I guess I just assumed the idea was to do something smaller i.e. higher odds
Why do we have 100+ posts already without an actual raffle running?I think what makes most sense is $100 per entrymoney goes to any known org like oorah, hasc, any tomchai shabbos, prize antarctica cruise for 2 or $18000 cashI'll be the 1st to buy
Scratch any organization that runs their own large successful campaign, like oorah and hasc, that'll cut down buyers.
What is the best platform to run this from? Obviously entries need to be made online, but are there sites that you can pay to create a raffle? Something like Charidy?
IMHO The point of giving such a big prize is that people shouldn’t look so much on which organizations they’re giving too And the rather concentrate on the big prize they might get, the fact that there is a charity behind it just takes away the guilt in case you don’t win.
Also I'm sure the tax receipt doesn't hurt.
