Free Stuff
« on: August 11, 2011, 06:24:56 PM »
I think we should start a thread for free things - why should craigslist have a monopoly (before I knew about this site, I posted a kosher microwave in CL's free section, and had to guess who was jewish based on the names in the responses).

Anything that you don't need, other people might have a use for - right now, I've got a bunch of $5 coupons for similac formula. Anyone interested, let me know!

Come on, people - We've all got stuff that we're going to throw out, that other people here would love to have. At the very least, formula samples and coupons - anyone who has a baby should be getting free samples and coupons periodically (if you're not, you should sign up with similac and enfamil). Since most people only use one brand of formula, you can give away the other stuff.

Have a chair that you're throwing out? Maybe it no longer meets your standards, but someone here could use it! Furniture, toys, books, coupons, old magazines (even old mishpacha and binah, if you don't save them), even old collections of bags, or cardboard boxes for moving!

If you don't need them, post them here for a day or two before throwing them out, it's quite likely that someone else will find good use for them!

It would be a drop complicated to work out right. The crowd here is not soo huge, and yet we live all over the world.

For example, I have 2 free cans of formula. But I live in Lakewood, and you live in Chicago.....

There is actually a Lakewood weekly pubplication that has a section called 'Freebay' which list items people are giving away for free. It usually has 30-50 items on it, sometimes very useful.  My first fax machine, first printer, tons of free Canon ink cartridges etc etc

Obviously, not everything will work out, and at the time you offer something, perhaps no one will need it right then. But I live in staten island, actually, but travel into brooklyn. There are plenty of people here who live in lakewood, and even those that don't, may ask a friend or relative to pick something like that up from you!

And things like coupons, if the value is high enough (and the expiration date far enough away) can even be mailed, with the receiver mailing back a stamp.

I just picked a bunch of stuff from craigslist, and there are a few items I don't need.

I've got a high chair, plain plastic, but seems pretty useful, because the legs come off - so very portable.

Also have a training potty. Personally, I'd be a little weirded out about a used potty, but if you're not, cool!

Staten Island or Brookyn.

I also have a couple of outfits and pairs of shoes (one pretty much brand new, the other used but still usable), I think it's all around 18 months.

I got this off craigslist, too, but my wife doesn't like used shoes, and didn't like the design on the outfits.

Also have a 1-qt bottle of similac formula, ready-to-feed.

I agree.  Sounds like a great idea.  Though its a far smaller base than CL, the locations are also far more limited.  I was giving away some furniture a while back and had a hard time finding a taker (found one eventually).  This is a great forum.
If you don't care why would you comment?

Does anyone have any Enfamil Samples and/or coupons? Preferably in the NY area, although for the coupons, I could mail you back a stamp to cover postage.

Our doctor gave us 4 sample-size (8 oz.) containers of formula for my son when we thought he might be having an alergic reaction to the regular formula. The type he gave us is Enfamil Nutramigen.

My son's OK without it, and he refuses to eat the stuff. We have 3 containers still sealed, and one opened one.

Anyone interested?

Well, if you know someone in brooklyn, they can pick up the monitor I linked to...otherwise, I'd recommend checking craigslist in, I guess, central jersey? Anyone else here in lakewood know which part of jersey he should check on craigslist?
