Checking-in to hotels in Canada

I am booking a hotel through an SPG member for two nights in YUL.

Are the rules the same? Will the desk agents be ok when i check-in under a different name (the SPG member) as long as I'm on the reservation?

Did it last year, there was no issues, but not sure if it always works.

As long as you are on the reservation as the “second guest”, it should be fine. The most they can do is not give you the AH’s gold/platinum benefits (if applicable).
