Venice for All of Succos? Alternatives?
« on: September 15, 2019, 11:30:44 AM »
Hi All,

My wife and I have vacation from the Thursday after Yom Kippur (Oct. 10th) until the end of Succos (the 22nd), and were thinking about going to Venice. Would 12 days be too long in your opinion? Would be our first time there, and with the understanding that there aren’t many roads, would we be able to walk around on Chag/shabbos (since that comprises most of our vacation) or would be stuck in our hotel? Any alternative locations/day trips you could recommend?

How is the chabad there? We have around 160k Marriott and 70k Hyatt, but aren’t against paying cash for hotels if need be, and would appreciate any advice there as well.

Thanks in advance! Much appreciated.

Thanks! Any advice on alternatives? We also have 240k United if that makes a difference.

You could do a lot of Italy in that time. You could do 1st days in Rome, 2nd days in Venice, with stops in florance and Tuscany on Chol Hamoed. Could also throw Milan in the mix potentially.

Thanks! We've already been to Rome and Milan, but were thinking about a day or two in Florence. Our worry is that we won't really be able to explore Venice over chag/shabbos- do you think this concern is overblown? We honestly haven't done a great deal of research into the sites/attractions of Venice, but if most of them can be seen over shabbos or yom tov, then perhaps we should rethink our plans.

Overblown. 2 Chol days is all you need.

You could do first days plus 1 day chol hamoed in Venice which is more than enough as everyone is in agreement on, and then go elsewhere, i.e. Switzerland or France or Austria etc
