Hey everyone!
So it's time to get a new set of 4 tires for my car... I got some estimates of about $450 from both Midas and Firestone. But I think that's really expensive!!!
Anyone know of any decent deals??

Does Walmart have good tires/warranty? (I heard they sell bad off-market tires but dunno if that's true)

Thanks in advance
Ps if I buy it on an Amex do I get any kind of warranty protection?

450 all in?
Depending on the tire, that can actually be a good price

What's considered a good tire? How can I tell?
Thanks!

Can you elaborate? What kind of warranty do they give?

Anyone know if i get an extended warranty if I use my Spg card to buy them?

450 all in is a great price. Granted that I got expensive tires, but I paid almost 1k for a set of 4 all in

So how do I know if the tires are any good? What kinda questions should I be asking? I've never bought tires before and I'm not too savvy...
Thanks !

Not to hijack a thread, but I will. What work needs to be done on a car at what point. I never trust the mechanic. When do I need to rotate the wheels, change filters, etc.?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Some mechanics don't believe in tire rotation. Filters (oil, engine air , and cabin air) just do yourself and avoid the rip-off.
If everyone would realize how easy it is to change an engine air filter, they would laugh.

I was told that tires should be rotated every other oil change. So every about 6k miles, or 2x/year.

When I get oil changes they rotate the tires for free but it just takes an extra 25 mins which is annoying
Air filters also get changed during an oil change

air filters are recommended to be changed every 12k-15k

depends on what you want from your tires. There's touring, performance etc... I would suggest you go to tirerack.com and use their comparison tools, and go into your local shop and ask for a price match.

rotate every 6k or 6 months. That's to prolong the life of your tires, and its free so the mechanic has no benefit. Oil change every 3 months or 3k. Change the belt every 50k

which one? there's quite a few timing belts differ from car to car by as much as 40k. If you have a non-interference engine like toyotas pre '05/'06 then changing it isnt even a must until it snaps or loosens and falls off.

Junk yards have some very good deals, I know someone who got 4 tires from a totaled car with under 1000 miles for $200.
Was that price before installation?
